In September 2011 a Scarecrow Festival was held in Pattingham. The ringers
made a group, which we called "Strictly Come Bellringing"
(shown here), which was at the back of the church under the tower.
Photographs of all of the scarecrows in the Festival can be found on the
church website.
The scarecrow of Tess Daly (left) was made by James and Sarah
(inset) while Janet made the scarecrow of Ann Widdecombe (right).
Chris made the scarecrow of Bruce Forsyth (left) and Janet made a
scarecrow judge (right), which bears a striking resemblance to our
Ringing Master.
There is a bell rope which is used to chime the second bell near the
group. Members of the public were invite to chime this bell in return
for a donation of at least 50p. Over the weekend £100 was raised
from these donations.
Not content with making two of our scarecrows Janet also made this
display of "Doctor Who - the Tom Baker Years" on the driveway
of her house.
Two disinguished ringers from Tettenhall are picured here with
a group of scarecrows labelled "Last of the Summer Wine".
Can you tell which one is Nora Batty?
The Archbishop of Canterbury seems to be in Gordon's front garden - or
is it a scarecrow?
