Pattingham Bells Run 2004 has record number of runners.
The 15th Bells of Pattingham Run, which took place on Sunday 17th October 2004, saw a total of 806 entry forms completed and an all time record of 718 runners crossing the finishing line, all to receive their traditional Bells Brass which is now a collectors item as each year features a different design.
The Run was won by David Mansbridge from Telford Althetics Club in a time of 40 minutes 55 seconds, this being the sixth win for David. Second was Simon Link from Stourbridge RC in 41 minutes 52 seconds. The first lady across the line was Kate Burge from Stafford Harriers with a time of 45 minutes 20 seconds.
The Pattingham and Patshull Challenge Cup for residents within the Parish, went for the second year running to Alan Griffiths, who took 46 minutes 50 seconds.
Truly a village event, with around 100 people helping to marshal the race and the traffic, manning the Help Desk and taking registration, or offering refreshments.
The services of Raynet (communications) and the Red Cross were needed when two runners were unable to complete the race through injury. Luckily nothing too serious.
Donations are made to the Air Ambulance Service, the Village School, the Village Playing Fields Association and the Air Cadets, who provide our car parking attendants. Proceeds from the Bells Run are given to St. Chad's Church, Pattingham.
